PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 5, 2008 – ProCurve Networking by HP today announced the availability of the ProCurve Switch 2610 Series, the next generation of enterprise edge switches.

The 2610 Series improves features to enhance network edge connectivity and convergence for customers in medium and large enterprises. With proven standards-based technology, the 2610 Series also enables secure, reliable 10/100 connectivity for converged network applications. The five new switches include two with PoE, two without PoE and a hybrid option.

“The 2610 Series delivers upon the promise of ProCurve’s Adaptive Edge Architecture by providing enterprise edge solutions to maximize the performance of demanding applications such as VoIP, video and Unified Communications,” said John McHugh, vice president and general manager, ProCurve Networking by HP.

Key Features and Benefits of the 2610 Series
Convergence features of the 2610 Series include multicast traffic control, QoS, 802.3af standard PoE and support for pre-standard legacy PoE equipment to enable wired and wireless deployments of Unified Communications, VoIP and video streaming.

Security features include Access Control Lists (ACL), which allows network administrators to control both inbound and outbound traffic. Also included is sFlow traffic sampling technology to improve traffic management and network monitoring to detect and prevent threats when used with ProCurve Network Immunity Manager.

The five new switches in the 2610 Series, all with a shallow form factor, include one fanless switch for open office deployments and one hybrid switch for environments that do not require PoE on every port.

Additionally, ProCurve’s network management features and lifetime warranty(1) make the 2610 Series a cost-effective solution for customers who are building enterprise edge networks and remote offices and workgroups.
